Fire Station #19 Stormwater Maintenance

Overview

Fire Station #19 in Glen Allen, Virginia, included a detention pond and Filterra stormwater treatment units that required maintenance to restore drainage, filtration, and site stability. Muller completed the work for Henrico County General Services in July 2023.

At the detention pond, crews removed vegetation, sediment, and debris that were limiting storage and obstructing the inlet forebays. Muller stabilized exposed areas across the pond floor and embankments with seed and erosion control matting.

The Filterra units were cleaned using jet/vac equipment to remove accumulated sediment, debris, mulch, and root material. Crews pruned the established trees, completed concrete parging and rust removal, and installed a new mulch layer without damaging the existing vegetation.

The completed work restored flow through the detention pond and filtration within the Filterra units. It also stabilized disturbed areas, improved access to the stormwater components, and returned the systems to their intended operating condition.
