National Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial

Overview

The National Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial occupies a two-acre site on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Muller completed the project’s wet utility scope, working for Clark Construction, the project’s construction manager, and coordinating closely with Clark’s site team throughout construction.

Muller’s scope included new storm, sanitary, and water utility infrastructure across the site, including a storm drainage system built around a CDS hydrodynamic separator for water-quality treatment. Crews also installed dedicated fountain overflow drains and area drains, tying into the work of the memorial’s masonry contractor, along with new water service and sanitary connections to the surrounding utility network.

Working on an active National Mall site required tight sequencing with Clark Construction’s other trades and ongoing coordination with the National Park Service. Muller also installed reinforced load-transfer platforms beneath portions of the new utility corridors and maintained temporary water service throughout construction, completing its scope without disrupting the broader project schedule.
