Wilder Middle School Detention Pond Maintenance

Overview

Wilder Middle School’s extended detention pond in Richmond, Virginia, required stormwater maintenance to restore storage capacity, flow, and embankment stability. Muller completed the work for Henrico County General Services in April 2024.

Crews dewatered the basin, cleared the low-flow orifice, conducted a sediment survey, and removed woody vegetation and debris. The work addressed sediment buildup and blockages that were limiting the pond’s ability to convey and store stormwater.

Muller also removed a tree encroaching on the fence line, filled animal burrows with concrete to stabilize the dam embankment, and replaced inlet riprap to reduce erosion. The completed work restored the pond to its original design capacity and improved the long-term performance of the facility.
